WYS would love to recognize our volunteers but we cannot award people without candidates. I know we have pushed to get nominations for Coach of the Year, Volunteer of the Year and Young Referee of the Year and will continue to do so. Let's find some deserving candidates across the state and get them recognized for their efforts. To be able to effectively do this, the state needs to form a recognition committee. The need for nominations has to be publicized, once nominations are received they must be reviewed, a winner selected and recognized at the state level, state level winners are nominated to Region IV for regional recognition and they nominate regionals winners to the national level. The types of prizes must be decided on and purchased. It would be great if all awards could be presented at the WYS annual general meeting, which is held in March.
